China English Teaching Internships

The Yorker English Club invites university or college students who are in the first, second, third or fourth year to spend one or two semesters teaching English in China. We also recruit high-school graduate students.

Brief introduction to Yorker English Club

Yorker English Club is a not-for-profit association registered by the Chinese government in Zhenjiang city (official registration number: 51105009-3). We are committed to improving students and adults' English-speaking skills, and to building bridges between East and West for cultural exchange. We hold an English corner every week to create an atmosphere for local people to practice English. Zhenjiang is about 250km (3 hours) from Shanghai.

We are working in three main fields:

• we import western books to China, especially ESL English books;
• we have our own language center to help people learn English and have five full-time job teachers working for us right now;
• we organize English programs in cooperation with Chinese schools and western agencies. Currently we have an Intern program, an ESL English teachers placement scheme, a home stay program and some cultural exchange programs.

China English Intern Program Cost

One-semester: Single Applicant $850. Married Couple $1580.
NB there are reduced fees for applying early and/or staying longer.

If you stay for a year, you get a 500 US dollar bonus.

The program fee covers ALL of the following:

• Yorker English Club service/application fee.
• Round trip airfare from international airport to Shanghai, Beijing or Hong Kong.
• Single-entry Chinese visa.
• Transportation from the airport to the host school upon arrival in China.
• A free furnished apartment with private bedroom on or near the school campus.
• A meal card to use at the campus cafeteria.
• Ready to use cell phone upon arrival at host school (you pay for calls after free credits).
• Support and training from Yorker English Club coaches.
• Besides free apartment, you are given 600RMB extra money each month for the cost of living in China

Optional extra opportunities:

• Classroom Chinese lessons twice a week.
• Live with a Chinese home-stay family which offers you private bedroom and meals, and will take care of you in China.
• Join public benefit activities organized by the Club to practice your personal abilities.
