We have ongoing working relationships with various trusted organisations relevant to teaching and working abroad.
You can train to teach English to speakers of other languages and gain an internationally recognised qualitifcation with TESOL-direct. We have a range of suitable courses for you with accreditation by the College of Teachers, London.
We offer standard 150-hour and 110-hour TESOL certificate courses as well as more specialist Business English and Young Learners' English options.
Our courses by distance learning provide excellent teacher-training programmes and our students come from all over the world. Having a TESOL-direct certificate will give you the skills to teach English in the UK and all other countries.
When we talk about TESOL courses (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) we are including both TEFL courses (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and TESL courses (Teaching English as a Second Language). These are different titles that cover the same teaching skills.
If you wish to enrol on the Teaching English to Young Learners course as well as the 150-hour TESOL Certificate course, please see Special Offer on the Fees page.
This course is equivalent to a taught course of four or five weeks. The topics covered by this course are the same as those on the CELTA & Trinity TESOL certificate taught courses, except that observed teaching practice is an option since our courses are by distance learning. This course is accredited by the College of Teachers in London. See details of our 150-hour TESOL course.
This is an excellent, affordable programme which will enable you to teach world-wide. This course is also accredited by the College of Teachers. See details of our 110-hour TESOL course.
This 65-hour course has been designed for those wishing to teach business English. Applicants will need to hold a TESOL, TEFL or TESL qualification. Teachers who are able to teach English for business attract a significantly higher salary than those offering only general English. This is the only Teaching Business English course accredited by the College of Teachers. See details of our 65-hour TBE course.
This 65-hour course is aimed at teachers with general English teaching qualifications (TESOL, TEFL or TESL) who wish to specialise in teaching young learners, typically aged 4 -12. See details of our 65-hour TEYL course.
Teaching practice options are available but since we have applicants from all over the world, teaching practice options are flexible to suit your needs. Teaching practice in the UK may not be possible for everyone. Teaching practice can be in a school of your choice, for example in the country where you live or wish to work.
Our tutors have at least 20 years of teaching and training experience, including teacher-training with the British Council. They will give you helpful advice and provide detailed written feedback on your assignments. Tutors' details.
Our courses are offered by distance learning and require no attendance. Our courses are flexible and you can work at your own pace, wherever you are in the world. You don't need to give up your job while you are training, and you don't have to live close to a college that offers taught classes. Our courses are also affordable; our fees our substantially lower than equivalent classroom-based courses. Accreditation by the College of Teachers means that they are recognized worldwide.
Note that our courses are offered by distance learning, not online. Online TESOL / TEFL / TESL courses would not be able to provide you with either adequate material or tutor support.
Please read our TESOL course fees & discounts page for details of our competitive fees.
Significant discounts are always available if you choose to enrol on two courses e.g. a TESOL certificate course plus our course in Teaching Business English or Teaching English to Young Learners.
Discounts are also available for groups of applicants. Please contact us.
